It started with a submarine in the Swedish archipelago
Micropol offers advanced solutions in passive fibre optics, manufactured in their own production facility in Åled. The company offers the world's best performing expanded beam connector. But it all started when a Soviet submarine ran aground on the Swedish coast.
In the Autumn of 1981 a Soviet submarine, U137, armed with nuclear weapons ran aground in the Blekinge archipelago. The event was world news and put a new focus on the use and development of fibre optics by the Swedish Armed Forces. The military requirement was also the starting point for Micropol Fiberoptic AB, which was founded in 1988. Micropol has been one of Pamica’s portfolio companies since 2018.
Micropol has long experience within the fibre optic industry and specialises in fibre optic solutions and applications for demanding environments of their own manufacture. They offer different products and customised special solutions for defence & security, telecom & broadcast, industry and medical technology.
